FRIDAY 27th FEBRUARY 2015: TODAY!
18.30 - 20.30
St Matthias Church, Poplar High Street E14 0AE
The people of Poplar will gather this evening at St Matthias Church to eat delicious food, celebrate their neighbourhood and back local entrepreneurs. The Poplar Pot feeds hungry diners who fund local businesses through their entry fee. One pot. One vote.
For just £5, diners are given a pot of delicious food and a vote for one of three projects. The lucky project takes home all the proceeds, and the other two receive a package of services designed to help them grow their work. With an enchanting venue – the oldest building in the Docklands – live music and delicious food made by local producers, The Poplar Pot aims to shine a light on Poplar's most exciting talent.
Thanks to the generous support of Sainsbury's, every single penny of ticket sales will go directly to the winning project.
The event is inspired by the global 'Sunday Soup' movement, which began in Detroit and has received plaudits from President Obama, among others. The income from the meals funds creative projects in local areas with an unrestricted grant, awarded at the discretion of the diners.
